Modern Rockville, which adds capacity to roads, bridges and storm drains along nearly three miles of U.S. 36 between I-465 and Raceway Road in Marion County, is in its next phase on the path to improvement.
Modern Rockville will tackle: traffic congestion due to only four current travel lanes; crash conflict points with left-turning vehicles; poor drainage in shoulders; and lack of sidewalks for pedestrians.
A public information meeting was held in fall 2022, a public hearing was held in Spring 2023 and another public meeting was held in July 2023.
Utility work got underway in early 2025.
Phase 1 Construction would begin in early 2026.
Phase 2 Construction period would occur in 2027.
Tentative Project End Date is 2028 to accommodate any scheduling delays.
