Public input helped the Modern Rockville Project Team prioritize issues facing those who travel the US36/Rockville Road corridor and identify next steps from the very beginning.
We started with a commuter questionnaire in January 2020 which told us about frustrations with congestion, aggressive drivers running stop lights, passing stopped school buses and using the shoulder or turn lanes to pass.
We continued with this document of solutions suggestions in June 2020 recommended by drivers and citizens.
INDOT invited neighboring homes, businesses and others with an interest in the project to share feedback regarding safety, access, drainage and other issues. A public information meeting was held in fall 2022 and we met with the public in Spring and summer 2023. Review the presentation here.
We’ve worked in concert with emergency responders, schools and local officials to identify roadway and right-of-way improvements that ensure that new designs are built in harmony with emergency responders. That’s before, during and after construction.
